Help families in straw huts stay dry during torrential rains with long-lasting tarps.
He answered, “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’; and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’”
The Tuaregs we work with are courageous survivors. For generations, they survived trekking across the Sahara Desert, numerous droughts, and year after year, rebuilding their homes.
In previous years, our Alliance family has assisted Tuaregs who were strengthening their straw huts by replacing wooden posts with rust-resistant metal poles. This has brought some much-needed stability to some of the poorest urban Tuareg families in Niger.
Nomadic families living in huts usually buy black plastic sheets to protect them from torrential rains, resulting in yearly expenses and plastic waste. We want to give them the opportunity to use durable tarps, to relieve these annual expenditures. As the rainy season approaches, some of these families have courageously entered into a partnership with us to try using durable tarps for their hut coverings instead of animal skins or plastic sheets.
We pray that our Tuareg neighbours may know God’s love and provision through this blessing of physical shelter and our team’s ongoing relational care.
