PSALM 82: 3,4
Sabrina is a young woman who was trafficked by a man—throughout Canada and the United States—starting when she was 17-years-old. Her trafficker was a childhood friend, Greg. He showed her kindness and was a helping hand when Sabrina struggled at home. Later on in their relationship Greg became violent and emotionally, financially, and mentally abusive. He forced Sabrina to sell herself and take drugs with the threat of physical harm if she did not comply. Sabrina became addicted to drugs and lost everything. Through the help of a service provider in Manitoba, Sabrina is now free of drugs and her trafficker. Sabrina has been clean for over one year and is now on a journey to overcome the trauma she endured. She is attending university and hopes to become a psychologist. Sabrina received funds through Defend Dignity’s Survivor Support Fund.
Pray for the young people across Canada who have been lured into selling themselves. Pray that God would enable them to overcome their oppression. Ask God to guide our governments as they consider laws and policies which can either help or hinder those who are buying sexual services.
